The Weddings Resorts Of Fiji

There are so many fabulous wedding options and we have done the research for you! We have a passion for the Pacific, especially Fiji, and only promote resorts we have personally experienced. We know the people as well as the places – the resort managers, the wedding coordinators and the chefs.

We promise you personal service, in-depth knowledge and the best possible prices as well as the security of dealing with a licensed travel agency that is a member of the Travel Compensation Fund. We don’t have ‘booking buttons’, we offer service at no additional cost. Just drop us an email.

Because Fiji is very much a ‘resort’ destination, it is important to choose the one best-suited to your needs/wants and that is why we have hand-picked the ones we believe are the best, both on the mainland and the surrounding islands.

Catholic and non-denominational/civil ceremonies can be arranged. Wedding packages range from less than $1000 to around $2500, depending on the location and the inclusions (some samples here).

Some of the resorts we recommend include:

The Mainland (Viti Levu)

There are a number of excellent resorts on the main island that suit couples and especially those inviting guests as they don’t have that extra cost of transfers to the islands – and it can be nice to have the ceremony on the mainland and then go to an island resort for the honeymoon.

The Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa

There are many good resorts on Denarau Island (10 minutes from Nadi and accessible by road across a causeway). It has become a little ‘busy’ as there are a number of resorts like the Westin, Hilton and Radisson (all nice resorts!). We have chosen the Sofitel for the quality accommodation, Mandara Day Spa and the nice chapel wedding option. Denarau Marina is the gateway to the Mamanuca group of islands and there is a value option for guests nearby in the self-contained Terraces apartments.

The Sheraton Resort

The Sheraton has long been a favourite for couples wanting to marry on Denarau, mainly because of the picturesque little chapel. It can also suit couples with guests because, apart from the Sheraton resort, there are also the Sheraton Villas and it is only a stroll away to the sister property, The Westin.

Sonaisali Island Resort

Sonaisali is about 15 minutes south of Nadi (a three minute boat ride across the lagoon to the island). They do lovely weddings (boat arrival optional) in the Traditional Wedding Bure. Sonaisali is also a good option for couples inviting guests as there are beachfront hotel rooms as well as beachfront spa bures. The resort offers lots of activities and several dining/reception options.

Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa

One of Fiji’s newest resorts, the Intercontinental is a little further south and located on stunning Natadola Beach. As the name suggests it has an excellent golf course and Day Spa – for couples with guests they can organise ‘Spa-rties’ where the ladies indulge in some spa pampering while the lads whack the little white ball around. The wedding chapel is stunning and offers live web-cam video so guests at home can also ‘attend’ the wedding.

Shangri-La Fijian Resort & Spa

Located 45 minutes from Nadi on the Coral Coast, the Shangri-la is one of Fiji’s favourite resorts and wedding choices, often because of the lovely glass-fronted Seaside Chapel (couples can also choose the Takali Beach or a garden location). The Shangri-la is the largest resort in Fiji and therefore has lots of facilities – golf, watersports, three pools (one adults only), Kids Club, six restaurants and five bars, Day Spa etc.

Outrigger on the Lagoon

Located about 20 minutes further along the Coral Coast, the Outrigger is a terrific resort with lots of facilities/dining options and offers hotel style accommodation, suites and bures and has a ‘Talai Butler’ service (your own butler to bring champagne and canapés to your bure or suite each afternoon, pack/unpack your clothes, make restaurant reservations, suggest tours and activities etc). Two of the resorts best-known features are the large swimming pool and the Bebe Spa, situated on top of the ridge with sensational coastal views (same view as the wedding chapel). Worth mentioning here that The Bedarra Inn is only a short walk away – it is a very good resort with an excellent restaurant and can suit guests attending an Outrigger wedding on a bit of a budget.

Warwick Fiji Resort & Spa

The Warwick is a favourite of ours. While there are 250 rooms, it somehow feels like a small resort – and while Fijians are famous for being friendly, the staff here are just the friendliest (some of them have been there for many years and it is obvious as soon as you arrive that they love the resort and the guests). Couples can marry on the beach and ‘Wicked Walu’ is also a terrific location (a little island out the front of the resort, connected by a timber walkway). Brides can also choose to arrive for the ceremony on a decorated bamboo raft (Bilibili).

First Landing Resort

This is an excellent resort for couples/guests on a bit of a budget. Located north of Nadi on a nice beach (where legend has it that the first visitors to Fiji arrived in canoes some 3500 years ago) it has a range of accommodation options and a great restaurant (seafood is the specialty). With friendly staff and excellent value First Landing is one of the few mainland resorts that has an ‘island’ feel.

The Mamanuca Islands

The Mamanuca group of islands are off the west coast of the mainland (so there can be some stunning sunsets). They are easy to get to by launch from Denarau Marina (usually three times a day) or by seaplane or helicopter. Most islands offer beach weddings and there are chapel options on Treasure Island, Mana Island and Tokoriki Island Resort. Because couples must attend the Registry Office in person prior to the wedding ceremony, a night in Nadi prior to heading to the islands is usually necessary.

Castaway Island Resort

There’s something special about Castaway Island Resort – it suits couples wanting romance and privacy and also suits guests with families as it has one of the best Kids Clubs in Fiji. The diving is sensational and the dining superb. There is a saying on Castaway, “One visit and you’re hooked” and this seems pretty much the case as over 50% of guests are repeat clients.

Malolo Island Resort

Malolo is a casual, laid back resort with a ‘rustic’ feel that doesn’t lack comfort and luxury – the 49 beachfront bures are all air-conditioned and were all recently refurbished. The beautiful lagoon and beaches make this the prefect tropical backdrop for a tropical wedding.

Likuliku Lagoon Resort & Spa

This is Malolo’s ‘sister’ resort and one of Fiji’s most romantic retreat for wedding/honeymoon couples travelling on a reasonably healthy budget. The wedding part is inexpensive (and sometimes even ‘free’ as part of an accommodation package) – what you pay for is the breathtaking turquoise lagoon and the standard of accommodation from the Deluxe Beachfront Bures with private plunge pools to the only true ‘overwater’ bures in Fiji.

Tokoriki Island Resort

Tokoriki is one of our favourite boutique resorts for weddings and honeymoons. The adults only resort has an onsite wedding coordinator to ensure everything is perfect on the day (and they only allow one wedding on any given day). Couples can choose to marry in the Fijian style wedding chapel or on the beach and the luxurious Sunset Pool Villas are simply divine with their own private plunge pools. The dive sites around Tokoriki are excellent and they can arrange a romantic picnic for couples on their own private island.

Matamanoa Island Resort

Matamanoa is also a boutique adults only resort with a nice beach for the wedding venue. There are hotel rooms as well as bure accommodation so can suit couples who have invited a small group on a bit of a budget.

The Yasawa Islands

The Yasawa islands are also stunning with beautiful white beaches and crystal clear waters. It takes a little longer to get there than the Mamanuca and other island resorts – about three hours on the Yasawa Flier fast catamaran (daily from Denarau). These islands can suit couples with a sense of adventure who want to get away from it all. We recommend two resorts, VIWA ISLAND RESORT and YASAWA ISLAND RESORT & SPA – both are boutique properties (18 luxury bungalows at Yasawa and 11 at Viwa) and both can organise special romantic weddings – just email us for more info.

South/East Islands

A couple of lesser known island resorts that offer something special are ROYAL DAVUI ISLAND RESORT and TOBERUA ISLAND RESORT.

Royal Davui is on Beqa Island, south of the mainland and was voted the most Romantic Island Hideaway in the South Pacific, Caribbean and Atlantic for two years running by respected travel magazine Conde Nast - secluded and luxurious, everything is first-class – accommodation, cuisine, location and their weddings.

Toberua is a privately owned island off the east coast of the mainland with 15 recently refurbished bures that offers intimate weddings for couples (and small group of guests).

On the map it looks like it is a long way from Nadi but with good connecting flights and launch transfers you can only be an hour’s distance from clearing Customs to a colourful cocktail at the bar.

North (Taveuni/Savu Savu)

The northern islands are an unspoilt part of Fiji and are an hour’s domestic flight from Nadi. NAMALE RESORT & SPA is a superb five-star boutique resort that only allows one wedding per month (and knows how to make that day very special). The Day Spa has been voted the best in Fiji.

For those on a bit less of a budget but still wanting luxury, the KORO SUN RESORT & RAINFOREST SPA is also a romantic wedding and honeymoon destination and, off the island of Taveuni (20 minutes by water taxi) is MATANGI PRIVATE ISLAND RESORT.

Matangi has been voted one of the world’s best private islands and featured in the book, “1000 Places To See Before You Die” - the island caters to a maximum of 12 couples with nine bungalows and three treehouses.
