The Weddings Resorts Of VanuatuUnlike some other South Pacific destinations Vanuatu is an accessible experience with most resorts close to Port Vila and its shopping, restaurants and sightseeing opportunities. While all resorts will provide witnesses for weddings, some couples invite guests. Occasionally, because of budget or needs, guests may be accommodated at a different resort to the bride and groom. For example, if the couple chose Erakor Island Resort for their wedding, Le Lagon and/or Pacific Lagoon Apartments are just across the lagoon (Le Lagon for Kids Club, Pacific Lagoon for 2 bedroom self-contained accommodation) could suit the guests better. If you have any special requirements in this regard, let us know and we will find the right accommodation for everyone concerned and arrange transfers by land or sea to the actual ceremony. |
Le Meridien is a large quality resort with all the facilities you would expect - bars, restaurant, swimming pools, golf course, tennis, watersports etc on the shores of Erakor Lagoon. The resort also offers Vanuatu’s only true 5-Star accommodation with its 10 Lagoon Bungalows. These are on their own island (connected to the main resort by a suspension bridge) and have a living area, king bedroom with spa and a private balcony with lagoon access. The resort also suits couples who have guests, especially if they have children.
Le Lagon (formerly Crowne Plaza) is a large resort with a range of accommodation options that can be handy if couples have guests. Couples who take a Le Lagon wedding package are upgraded to the next room type. The resort itself is on Erakor Lagoon, spread through landscaped gardens and has a 12 hole golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool, watersports, bars and restaurants.
Iririki Island is in Port Vila Harbour, a few minutes on the free 24 hour ferry from town. It has a no children under 12 policy and swimming pool, bar, restaurant, Spa Frangipani for massage, watersports and has a choice of Garden View, Harbour View and Waterfront Bungalows. If you have guests booking 10 rooms, the 11th room is free. Iririki has long been a favourite for romantic breaks and its 70 rooms have all facilities you would expect from a quality resort including Spa Frangipani for a range of beauty services including facials, massages, waxing and nails.
A few minutes on a ferry and a thousand miles from care, Erakor Island Resort offers quality boutique accommodation on an unspoiled 16-acre island. Relaxed and secluded, Erakor also offers fine dining in “Roxys” restaurant, situated over the waters of Erakor Lagoon. There are 21 private, absolute waterfront bungalows including loft family bungalows. Four of the newest bungalows have spas. There’s also a Day Spa for massages and pampering. For those wishing to be married or renew their vows, there’s no more romantic place than the open-air historic chapel, or any of the beaches around the island.
Chantilly’s is a hotel style resort set on the harbour with all rooms facing the bay and sunset. It is a few minutes walk to town, there’s an in-house beauty and hair stylist and it has a swimming pool, bar and Tilly’s, arguably Vila’s best restaurant. The apartments are also self-contained and, for every ten rooms booked, the eleventh is free.
Mangoes is an adults only resort (18 years) overlooking the lagoon and Le Meridien. There are two swimming pools, comfortable, modern bungalow accommodation and a restaurant.
Poppy’s has modern, comfortable 1, 2 and 3 bedroom self-contained apartments. There are two swimming pools, one for adults only and, as the name suggests, is on the lagoon. There’s no restaurant but guests can dine at nearby Mangoes with a charge-back facility.
Hideaway Island Resort has the least expensive package in Vanuatu, but couples must stay at least four nights in one of their new deluxe ocean view bungalows. Hideaway is 20 minutes from Port Vila and fringed by a marine sanctuary unlike any other - it even has an underwater post office!
Located on Devil’s Point Road about 15 minutes from Vila, Benjor spreads along 600 metres of beachfront. The resort began with the restaurant, the Officer’s Club, so named because it is where WW2 American soldiers had their ‘Officer’s Mess’. The plunge pool in the adjacent creek is there courtesy of grenades. Since opening, the restaurant has been popular with locals and guests. There are now four one-bedroom villas with fans, bar fridge, DVD/TV and phone as well as 2 large 5 bedroom/2 bathroom villas that can accommodate ten people. There are four beaches (one ‘adults only’), snorkelling out front, horse riding nearby and a golf-driving range. 
Tamanu is a delightful property with just five bungalows and a great little restaurant about 25 minutes from Vila. Even if not for your whole time in Vanuatu, it’s perfect for a few nights ‘honeymoon within a honeymoon’. The five plantation cottages are built in French colonial style. All have verandahs angled to the sea, large bedrooms, shuttered windows, garden bathrooms and overhead fans. The atmosphere is relaxed and romantic and the restaurant is renowned for its excellent local seafood, beef and exotic fruits. It’s a fabulous spot for a beach wedding.
Bokissa is a romantic island off Santo, ideal for couples who want to combine snorkelling and/or diving with their wedding and honeymoon. All meals are included in the accommodation rates.
Opened in April 2001 White Grass Ocean Resort features 12 beachfront bungalows of traditional South Seas design nestled between sandy beaches, dramatic rock caves and coral formations and sets new standards of accommodation comfort and service for the magical island of Tanna. The White Grass Resort has a 25 seat a la carte restaurant, cocktail bar and guest lounge with open verandah overlooking the ocean beachfront and gardens.
