The Weddings Resorts Of Vanuatu
Vanuatu is a well-kept secret for many people (Fiji gets a lot more publicity!). While there are many terrific resorts in Vanuatu, it is much more than a ‘resort’ destination as there are so many activities, attractions and restaurants etc not far from most of the resorts. It is also closer to Australia, less expensive than most other Pacific destinations and it is easy to tailor weddings to suit couples needs and budgets (and, unlike Fiji and the Cook Islands, couples don’t have to visit the Registry Office in person).
Catholic, non-denominational weddings (with a pastor as celebrant) and civil ceremonies (usually with the Lord Mayor of Port Vila as celebrant) can be arranged. We only recommend properties that we have personally experienced and wedding packages range from $1200 to around $2500, depending on the location and the inclusions (some samples here).

The Havannah opened in 2009 and is located on the sunset side of the island at Samoa Point overlooking Havannah Harbour (where the Survivor TV series were made). It is adults only and there is a range of accommodation options from Sunset Pool Villas to Waterfront Villas with plunge pools to Vanuatu’s only ‘true’ overwater villa. Eratap is about 25 minutes from Port Vila and has the beach/ocean on one side and a lagoon on the other. With only 12 villas (including two Honeymoon Villas with private plunge pools), Eratap is a very nice upmarket resort with stunning wedding locations. Totally refurbished in 2010 Erakor Island Resort has a great location (five minutes from Port Vila by road and five minutes on the free 24-hour ferry). Erakor has lovely lagoon beach wedding locations and the charming historic open-air chapel. There are a number of reception and accommodation options (Waterfront Spa Villas, Superior Waterfront Bungalows and Family Bungalows). Iririki Island Resort & Spa

Iririki Island is in Port Vila Harbour, five minutes on the free 24-hour ferry from town. Iririki offers a beach location or on top of the island looking out to sea. There’s an adults only section to the resort (Garden, Harbour View and Waterfront Bungalows) that has a pool, Day Spa and Michener’s Restaurant. Guests in the adults only section can also access the facilities at the family-friendly Snorkeller’s Cove (pool, restaurants, tennis, watersports etc). Snorkeller’s Cove can also suit couples (spas on the balconies) and Iririki has a sister property, the Grand Hotel & Casino, just across the harbour, that may suit couples with guests attending. Warwick Le Lagon Resort & Spa

Le Lagon is a very popular resort wedding location, especially for couples inviting guests. With 140 rooms the resort has a range of accommodation options from ‘Classic’ rooms to Deluxe Superior rooms to Garden and Lagoon Bungalows to the four Island Suites. There are lots of facilities (golf course, watersports, tennis, Kids Club, pool with swim-up bar, choice of restaurants/bars etc) and weddings can be on the beach (traditional canoe arrival optional) or in the gardens or on the wedding ‘deck’ over the lagoon. Sunset Bungalows is an adults only resort on the lagoon about five minutes from Port Vila. Wedding locations include on the deck above the lagoon, in the small, thatched wedding chapel or in the landscaped gardens by the pool – wedding packages include a celebration lunch or dinner for the couple and an upgrade to the next level of accommodation, subject to availability. There are eight Lagoon View Studios, 10 Superior Waterfront Bungalows and one Honeymoon Spa Bungalow. Couples with 30 to 40 guests can book the whole resort. More on Sunset Bungalows...
Located just a few minutes from town, Lagoon Beach does lovely weddings (very good value) with an optional canoe arrival for the bride. Can be ideal for guests on a bit of a budget as there are 16 two-bedroom self-contained apartments as well as four spa villas for couples (have a look at ‘Testimonials’ for a description of Lana & Eddie’s LBR wedding). Breaka’s is an adults only resort about 10 minutes from Port Vila. There are Garden and Beachfront Bungalows to one side of the resort. At the heart of the resort is the infinity pool with swim-up bar and restaurant and, to the other side the two/three bedroom villas that can suit guests wanting to share the cost of a nice villa in a beach location. Tamanu offers a lovely beach wedding location and a good restaurant for a reception or celebration lunch/dinner. There are six French Colonial cottages for accommodation but couples choosing to marry at Tamanu aren’t required to stay there. Tamanu is about 20 minutes from Port Vila. Benjor is on Devil’s Point Road, looking across the water to Hideaway Island. There is a thatched wedding ‘chapel’ on a grassy point next to the beach with the ocean out front and a pretty creek to one side. Poppy’s can also suit large groups as well as couples. For couples there are the Beachfront Spa villas (and an adults only pool) and, for guests, self-contained studio apartments as well as one, two and three bedroom villas. Aore Island Resort - Santo

Santo is a little more laid-back than Efate/Port Vila and is home to the country’s best beaches, blue holes and some of the best diving in the South Pacific (the famous Coolidge wreck, Million Dollar Point etc). Santo is a 50 minute flight from Port Vila and there are weekly direct flights from/to Brisbane. Aore Island is 10 minutes by ferry across the channel from the main town of Luganville. Aore has Garden and Beachfront bungalows and a fine restaurant and offers garden or beach location for weddings (optional canoe arrival). We can also organise weddings on Santo at Bokissa Private Island Resort or Moyyan: House By The Sea. An Island Escape cruise can be a terrific honeymoon option. More on Aore Island Resort...
White Grass Ocean Resort - Tanna

Tanna Island is a 45 minute flight south of Port Vila. Rich with traditional ni-Vanuatu culture it is home to Mt Yasur, one of the world’s most accessible active volcanoes. Tanna is more ‘basic’ (generator electricity etc) but accommodation options are comfortable and weddings have a more ‘traditional’ flavour. Located only a few minutes from the airport, White Grass has very comfortable bungalow accommodation, a good restaurant, snorkelling, fishing etc and access to a number of scenic and cultural attractions. Mt Yasur is a couple of hours (4WD) across the island. There is also the more ‘rustic’ option of Friendly Bungalows on the volcano side of the island. More on White Grass Ocean Resort...
